What to get the person who gave you life and cares about you more than themselves?! So hard, right?! In thinking about what to get my own mama this Mother’s Day I came up with not only a gift guide, but also thoughtfully paired gifts numbered below that compliment one another. I feel like I tend to just buy gift baskets because they “go together” and seem more thoughtful…but honestly, they are usually over- priced and what better way to show your mom you care than by giving them a personalized gift basket that their child created? All of the recommended Mother’s Day finds are very affordable so depending on your mama’s taste, you can pick the number that suits YOUR mama best…or pick a few!
#1) The book,”Valley of the Dolls 50th anniversary” just did a re-vamp and I’m sure your mom would love a copy! Pair this book with sunscreen, a beach bag, flip flops, and a sun hat and you’re golden!
#2) Give the LAUGH-OUT-LOUD book, “I Feel Bad About My Neck and Other Thoughts on Being a Woman” book along with the oh- so- perfectly paired, neck/ face cream. Macy’s has a special right now for Lancome- with the purchase of $35, you get a qualitiy, free gift set. So, get the purchase of the wrinkle cream below (or any you pick) and you automatically get the free gift set it comes with! Your mom will feel like she hit the jack pot with all the variety!
#3) Apron, rolling pin, cookbook and a recipe box – say you’re going to bake or cook (I would say cook- I’m not so into baking) for the day!
#4) Buy mom a Lemon Tree. Each time it grows, your mama will think of you! You can always pair this with your favorite lemon pie (that you made or bought). My FAVORITE are lemon bars so this gift would be right up my alley; some lemon bars, lemon tree, maybe some lemonade… yummy! But I rant… I know not everyone is as into lemons as myself!
#5) Buy some teavana tea (I LOVE the white tea, “Spice of Life” and I’m sure your mama will too), a tea infuser, and the hardcover 50th Anniversary book, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.
#6) I LOVE the local, natural, chemical-free, preservative free products, B’s Bodyluscious Products. There are absolutely no fillers and it’s safe for kids and babies, which is always a plus for me! Their new Lavender Loofah goats milk soaps and sweet heart-shaped lavender or rose soaps are perfect for Mother’s Day. And they just HAPPEN to be running a Mother’s Day Special: Purchase any jar of body butter and receive a free mango pomegranate or lemon vanilla lip balm!
#7) Bath bombs and bubble bars… What is better than giving your mama the gift of relaxation? Below are my favorites:
I love all of them but I find that the “bubble bars” go about 8 baths if you break off a piece each time you bathe. Whereas, the bath bombs can get pricey because they are just for one time use. But why not splurge on mom? She deserves it! The “rose bombshell” bath bomb is my personal fave.
This is a very affordable choice and I’m all about prime 2-day shipping. They’re also super cutely already wrapped 🙂
#8) (This a good one to give from your kids to your mom on Mother’s Day). Buy acrylic tiles at Home Depot and write in sharpie, “Happy Mother’s Day”. They need to be sprayed after they are decorated with a sealant . You can find a good sealant at Home Depot or Michael’s.
#9) Candles, candles, and more candles! I love all candles from Anthropologie, but especially the one below is my personal favorite. -I love this soy wax blend that uses recycled glass vessels. You know me and two-for- one deals (my twins… laugh, laugh)…this candle lasts twice as long and absorbs more fragrance oil than other natural wax candles. Pair the candle with a great book. I love, “A Return To Love” by Marianne Williamson.
#10) Pair together your favorite nail polishes with your favorite face mask. Below is one of my absolute favorite face masks by SkinCeuticals:
I hope this helps you a bit. And above all, make sure to write your mama a special note about one of your first/ favorite memories; a time you spent with them of course! And what it means to you they are YOUR mother. Now that I’m a mother myself, I realize how selfless mothers are and how much UNCONDITIONAL LOVE a mother innately has for their children. Let them know you feel it and always have 🙂
